Introduction to Criminal Justice AJ 102 (Articulated with MSJC): This course will cover much of the entry-level to Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Private Security. It will also cover the history and development of Criminal Law. We will also go over the procedures of courtroom roles. The students will have a basic understanding of how to get an entry-level job in the Law Enforcement Field.
Criminal Law AJ 101 (Articulated with MSJC): This course will cover more of the history of law enforcement. We will review the importance of the Code of Ethics for police. We will also have classes in the United States Legal System, Community Oriented Policing, and Crime and Punishment. At the end of the course, the students will have a basic understanding of Our Legal System.
AJ 106 Juvenile Procedures (Dual Enrollment with MSJC): This course describes the philosophy of juvenile law and detention. The knowledge and application of laws defined in the Welfare and Institution Codes, Civil Code, and other special and relevant laws affecting youth are clarified as well as an investigation into the causes and assertions regarding juvenile delinquency. Techniques of an investigation into incorrigible, dependent, and delinquent juveniles, and the correlation of drugs and their abuse regarding juvenile delinquency are also discussed.
AJ 108 Criminal Investigations (Dual Enrollment with MSJC): This course addresses the techniques, procedures, and ethical issues in the investigation of crime. The focus is on the organization of the investigative process, crime scene searches, interviewing and interrogating, surveillance, source of information, evidence utility, scientific analysis, and the role of the investigator in the trial process.
AJ 111 Criminal Procedures (Dual Enrollment with MSJC): This course will prepare senior students for careers and job opportunities in Law Enforcement. We will be covering Interpersonal Communication, Courtroom Roles and Responsibilities, Conflict Resolution, and Crisis Management. During the senior’s last year in Public Safety, they will be working on more hand scenarios such as making an arrest and presenting in a mock courtroom.
AJ 118 Community & the Justice System (Dual Enrollment with MSJC): This course examines the complex, dynamic relationship between communities and the justice system in addressing crime, including the conflicts, challenges, and prospects of administering justice within a diverse multicultural population. Topics may include consensus and conflicting values in culture, religion, and law.

Thank you for considering the California Cadets Corps (CACC). CACC is an incredible program, our mission is “To create outstanding leadership development opportunities for students.” The program is voluntary and no student can be forced to take CACC. The support and encouragement you give your student to join the program are incredibly important. There are a few important points we want to ensure are very clear to our families.
- If a student takes CACC in high school or middle school, there is never any obligation to join the military.
- CACC emphasizes “life skills” which will help students long after they graduate high school.
- CACC will help prepare your student for success following high school.
It is important to know all CACC programs are citizenship programs. They are not military recruiting programs. CACC works to teach important skills and reinforce personal traits to help make your student successful in life, no matter what type of career they choose following high school. These life skills are based on the California Cadet core values of “Selfless Service, Integrity and Respect.” Your student will learn important aspects of leadership, followership, adherence to personal appearance and grooming standards, proper uniform wear and will also have the opportunity to participate in some very exciting co-curricular activities to include community service. These activities reinforce the lessons they will learn in the classroom and provide them an opportunity to lead and learn among their peers. These activities are our “hands-on” teaching tools and are a very fun and exciting way to reinforce the importance of teamwork, service, positive attitude, hard work, and a positive image. California Cadet Corps is a place where a student will not only start to grasp important life lessons, but they will truly feel a sense of accomplishment, belonging, and pride that comes with teamwork and success.

Curriculum & Course Description: California Cadet Corps (CACC) is a leadership education program. This program will help students build a strong knowledge base of self-discovery and leadership skills applicable to many leadership and managerial situations. Mastery of these standards through project-based learning, service-learning, and leadership development activities will prepare students for future leadership and management responsibilities.
Course Learning Objectives:
Military Goal: Students gain identity and belonging as a Cadet while developing self-control, respect, discipline, and confidence.
Citizenship Goal: Students learn duty, service, and responsibility as a citizen of their school, their community, the State of California, and the United States.
Leadership Goal: Cadets emerge as experienced leaders ready to succeed in college and career.
Wellness Goal: Cadets are healthy, well-rounded, and prepared for the physical and stress demands of college, career, and life.
