Dear Santa Rosa Academy Parents and Community Members:

Santa Rosa Academy will begin a month-long Great Kindness Challenge (GKC) dedicated to
creating a culture of kindness on and off our campus. Our school is proudly participating in this proactive, positive bullying prevention initiative starting next week (January 21st -February 15th). The start day is significant to us as January 21st is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is often celebrated through acts of service out in the community.

Our challenge to our students is to identify acts of kindness outside of school and document this act either through taking a picture or video and then sharing it with our school. Sharing these acts of kindness with our school community will help point out all of the positive things our students and families are doing inside and outside of the school. This will also demonstrate how much our Santa Rosa Academy families truly care about our community and these pictures will be displayed here at school and shared with the public as well. Please have students share these photos (via email or in print form) with their classroom teacher (K-5) or with their character period teacher (6-12). Each picture or video submitted will enter students into a drawing for a free meal from In-N-Out, which will be awarded to one student at each grade span (elementary, middle, and high) once the challenge is complete.

All elementary classes and middle and high school students will receive a GKC checklist with 50 kind deeds that can be used to help with the challenge. Please encourage your child to
complete the challenge and show the world that we can make a positive impact in the community!

In Partnership,

Nick Stearns
